arch

LIDI, Paddington, Sydney
26 October – 9 November 2002

On October 7, 1999 my father died of cancer.
His name was Arch. He was 54.

The people who were closest to my father at the time of his death, were shown a range of 200 colours and asked to choose their favourite 10. I recorded these colours and asked them to complete the following sentences:

The name Arch usually called me was …

Arch was my …

My age on October 7, 1999 was …

My favourite colour is …

Using only the 10 colours chosen, I painted a portrait of each person, whilst concentrating on the memories I carried of their relationship with my father.
